The important question to ask here is: efficient for who? As we trudge tirelessly through superficial, hate-mongering messages, the ones who essentially benefit from lack of friction are the tech companies. More clicks, more ads, more money. But for us, sometimes life has only become more inefficient.
The beautiful applications of AI, such as those in this article, deserve a chance. But that does not mean that everything with the label "AI" is a good idea, or that AI can solve every problem.
News is to the mind what sugar is to the body: appetising, easily digestible and extremely damaging. The media is feeding us titbits that taste palatable but do nothing to satisfy our hunger for knowledge.
But people who are certain lack curiosity, by definition. If you cling to your convictions, you’re not likely to be receptive to new information. If we want to be informed – properly informed, then we have to embrace uncertainty.
What is it then, for God’s sake, this whole blockchain thing? And what’s so terribly revolutionary about it? What problem does it solve?
